We had a last minute flight cancellation which would result in a 3am hotel check-in. The Basalt crew handled our situation really well. Our room was exceptionally huge for its size. We loved the view of our room and we even had daily housekeeping. The outdoor hot tub was something we enjoyed using, especially after a long day out. Hotel breakfast was ok, good to have.

Friendly staff. Cozy and quiet room with all facilities. We felt very much at home there. Great location for visiting Snaefellsness. The rooms were at the back of a very welcoming café/restaurant. It was great to have these on site. The food was excellent. We were very pleased we were given our room 1 hour early since we flew in that morning from Denver and had missed the night.

The staff was very pleasant and professional. Access to the hotpot any time (bathrobes given by the hotel). The restaurant and breakfast were excellent! Practical facilities (petrol station, pump station for tyres, wash station).

We wanted solitude with access to hikes, mountains, highlands, waterfalls and glaciers, and we got it. The breakfast was also delicious. The staff is very kind and accommodating. We love everything. The room is great with a fantastic view (that we could see the aurora dancing from our window!) The dinner buffet is a must !!!!! The best dinner we had in Iceland :) We will come back.

I don’t know where to even start, just WOW! Since the moment I arrived, the owner Gudrun received me with open arms and gave me a map right away with places to visit around Snaefellsnes! She was very sweet and caring! The cabin was absolutely wonderful, equipped with everything you need to have a pleasant stay. The dinner both night was absolutely INCREDIBLE! The lamb and the pasta were SOOOOO GOOD! Worth it every penny! The breakfast was also wonderful. Gudrun really cares about her visitors, and you can truly tell by the way she helps and is always available, plus she’s a wonderful cook! As a solo traveler, it truly made me feel like home, which honestly, was the best! I’ve been in Iceland for 2 weeks now and have stayed at 10 different places, this one has been BY FAR! The best! What a wonderful stay!

Beautiful location and a special way to stay in the area. At night you can look outside and see so many stars and possibly Northern Lights. There are a few restaurants very close by that we recommend.
